Augustine Hill is a 3.46 hectare masterplanned development centred around Ceannt Station in Galway City Centre.
Stephen Little Associates prepared the application on behalf of Seagullpoint Limited for the construction of 128,080 square metres of mixed-use development including 376no. apartments, 2no. anchor retail units, 28no. shops, 22no. restaurants/cafes/bars,1no. 189 room hotel, 1 cinema, offices, childcare facility, multi-use cultural space, and new public realm.
BDP Architects drew plans for the development, incorporating the industry and transport heritage of the lands which are owned by Coras Iompair Eireann, Galway Harbour Company, and Galway City Council. Ceannt Train and Bus Station is at the heart of the development and is the focal point of Galway’s Ceant Station Urban Quarter, which was identified by the City Council in 2012 as an area of interest of urban regeneration projects.
In May 2021, development consent was given by Galway City Council with just over 50 conditions which largely necessitatedt he decrease of its overall size and scale to better conform to Galway’s existing built heritage.
